Phenomenal Women is a program for African American women and has reached over 600 Black women from all walks of life since 2003. We support each other, educate, laugh with, listen to and understand each other.
Groups meet at our office, 1475 Lima Street, Aurora, CO 80010, on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 5:45 pm to 8 pm.

We listened to the music of Indie Arie's "Healing"
and learned what we, as Black women, need to heal from. We discussed
our relationships, including the rifts and love that exist between
Black men and women in our community. We learned how to take better
care of our bodies, how to protect ourselves from HIV and STDs,
how to perform breast self-exams. We watched the powerful documentary,
"No! Black Women and Rape!" and found the strength to
talk about our own experiences and those of our sisters, mothers, daughters and friends.
We celebrated seven years of meeting new friends, of
finding beauty and joy in our hair, our skin, our weight, our voices,
our history, our culture, our music, our poetry, ourselves. One
sister said, "Every time I have come, I've left feeling better
about life and better about myself."
Certified child care and a nutritious dinner is always provided for you and your children. All services are free. Bring a friend.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care
Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal Woman,
That's me.
